Day 1..
The Origin Story
In 2003,
Back in third grade, we had free dress days. The one day when kids would show up with their best outfit and try to outdo each other by arguing about who had the most expensive fit. I used to sit on the edge of those conversations, just listening. I wasn’t interested in jumping into the debate.
At the time, I wanted to be mindful of what my parents had already done for me. They’d bought me cool clothes, and I didn’t feel right asking them for the newest gear just to keep up with the kids in my class.
What I did care about was drawing. I loved sketching cartoons and doodling but, on one free-dress day; I decided to flip the page and started sketching an outfit instead.
Crazy enough, I still remember what it looked like: an all-black fit. Black V-neck tee, black designer jeans with my government name written in cursive down the pant leg.
That was the moment I realized I wanted to make my own clothes. Something I could be proud of—without needing to ask for it.
Six years later, I came up with the name Splash Ice. I was walking home from BART one day, feeling inspired by some street art I saw. When I got home, I grabbed my favorite notebook and started sketching an ice cube. While I was drawing, my mind started drifting—to things that felt personal to me. Like the season I was born in. My birthday. My favorite color. My granny’s favorite color. Even how I pictured my future self: cool, laid-back, not focused on competition. I saw myself on a highway with no traffic—just cruising, unbothered, moving through life on my terms.
As I got older, it felt like the brand grew with me. I went through some heavy shifts—moments that broke me down, but also rebuilt me. They shaped the man I am today, and the one I’m becoming.
I realized I didn’t want the brand to just be about Icey Bob and his girlfriend, Icey Jane. That was part of the journey, but not the whole picture.
Over the past two years, I’ve been reminded of what this really means to me. I want to build something my late grandmother and father would be proud of. Something I can pass down to my future kids—not just a brand, but a legacy. I want to teach them about life, personal growth, staying healthy, using money as a tool, how to win in this world, how to protect what’s ours, and how to carry the Splash Ice name with pride and integrity.
What does Splash Ice mean?
Splash refers to the term of phrase that compliments one's possession. Using lines like "that's wet!" Need less to say, I like what you have on.
Ice in this realm represents the mind state of being relaxed and chill.
